Volunteers don’t have more time they have more hearts!!!

Dear Election Commission and Current EC Members,

I am writing with a great deal of respect and hope that BCCDI’s current board of directors take the initiative to organize a community dialogue for ALL THE CANDIDATES that are competing for the next Board of Directors regardless they have a competitor or not in collaboration with the election commission and should take place before next Saturday when election commission is scheduled to deliver their candidates.

I have no agenda nor any hidden idea and of course, I am not running for any position, my intention is very transparent as a member and PROVEN well-wisher of BCCDI I’m interested in knowing each and every candidate and their agenda and how they are equipped to deliver them. I deeply believe each and every candidate are well qualified and have outstanding agenda and as a member, we like to know what are those agenda and have a constructive conversation to make it better and hold the committee accountable. Having this open and constructive conversation may open our eyes to the unknown and may even open doors for many more volunteers to come forward to serve one of the BEST organizations in greater Washington DC as said many many times publicly and privately.

Public service is an honor and a privilege but it does come with a great deal of responsibilities, indeed it is a volunteer position, and the individual who submitted their nomination did so VOLUNTARILY, I hope that candidates did so with the understanding that it is not the POSITION they submitted for rather OBLIGATION to serve and to do BETTER. That being said MEMBERS and PARENTS of the organization should know who they are and what they propose for the organization (their agenda for the next 2 years) so the community has a better and deeper understanding of their agenda. That is the only way I know community members can lend their helping hands to make the organization more VIBRANT and most importantly more TRANSPARENT.

The very first thing SOLVING any PROBLEM is to recognize there is one. We must accept and understand that there are people who may be more qualified than we are, and to sit down with them and exchange views may enrich our ideology, it will give us the courage to do BETTER than our BEST.

The very first thing to do is be honest with ourselves, we can never have an impact on society if we haven’t changed ourselves. One of the most important weapons is to change ourselves and to recognize the impact. Humility is one of the most important qualities we must have, because if we are humble and we make people realize that we are no threat to them, then people will embrace us and listen to our ideas.

Thank You!

Radwan Chowdhury
