BCCDI BANGLA SCHOOL

 

Bangladesh Center for Community Development (BCCDI) is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization established in 1987, to work on community development and capacity building among Bangladeshi Americans in particular and for the citizens of Fairfax, Arlington, Prince William County, and the Greater Washington Metro area, in addition, to upholding cultural diversity and teaching various languages to our next-generation of youth.

BCCDI-Bangla School is managed by Bangladesh Center for Community Development, Inc, (BCCDI). Since its inception, BCCDI has thought Bangla to the US Department of State and supported many organizations with Translation and language services including local organizations and the Court as a volunteer by the BCCDI board of directors.

BCCDI has expanded its services and adopted many additional services to our community without regard to race, color, religion, creed, sex, national origin, age, physical or mental disability, sexual orientation, marital status, military or veteran status, gender identity and expression, genetic information, or any other factor protected by law.

BCCDI Bangla School Mission is to forge a path that leads to a brighter future and to Maximize EACH Child’s Potential while connected to their ancestor’s rich and vibrant cultural roots.

BCCDI Bangla School Vision and Objectives:

We encourage each child to think creatively, reason logically, apply knowledge usefully and many other practical skills we can impart. We embrace Diversity in a Modern World, throughout our school community, we share a commitment to fostering a culture where differences are valued, and interactions are free of bias. We strive to provide a comprehensive teaching methodology.

For the past 20 years, BCCDI hosting “Pohela Boishak, Pitha Utshob, and Upohar Mela” in addition to Month long Mohan Ekushey February (21st February) is known in Bangladesh as “শহীদ দিবস” Shaheed Dibosh (Martyrs’ Day), The Independence Day (“স্বাধীনতা দিবস” Shadhinota Dibosh) on March 26th, and the Victory Day (“বিজয় দিবস” Bijoy Dibosh) on December 16th celebration, in Fairfax County, more than a few thousand of community members participate to enjoy the entertainments by the BCCDI students and to shop in many cultural arts and crafts stores (vendors) and taste authentic gourmet foods.

BCCDI is well recognized and respected organization in the community for its positive impact. BCCDI contributes to many factors of our community at large in the greater DMV area, more specifically in “Fairfax County” Some of them are diversity and inclusion, youth leadership, the positive economic impact of all the public events, entertainment, and amusement for the residents of greater DMV area.

BCCDI Students are accepted by the Fairfax Country School Board, Arlington County School Board, and Prince William County School Board, where students can test out Bangla as a second language (elective course) and earn college credit, in addition to George Mason University also recognizes BCCDI Bangla School as their choice of teaching Bangla as a second language.

BCCDI is a parent organization, under the umbrella of BCCDI, we have created several projects and programs (i.e. Bangla School), under “Bangla School” we are currently offering the following classes to our community at large, in addition to several large annual events to promote Rich and Vibrant Cultural Diversity open to the public.

There are roughly 6500 spoken languages in the world today. The object of inquiry in linguistics is human language, in particular the extent and limits of diversity in the world’s languages. Services are:

MEET THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS

The Board of Directors (the “Board”) is the governing body of the BCCDI, elected by general members of the BCCDI.

The Board is responsible for the establishment and oversight of the organization and its activities, strategy, and priorities, for setting its high-level policies and for overall management; and is accountable to the members at large of the BCCDI, for the financial and operational performance.

The Board is responsible for raising and allocating capital, monitoring the Executive Management and its conduct of the BCCDI operations, making critical business decisions, and building long-term value. The Board, through approving and monitoring the risk appetite, and identifying and guarding against the longer-term strategy.
